Honeymoon in Bali: Hans-Petter and Synne’s Story

Bali is the world's most romantic destination for honeymooners. Here's everything you need to know — and the story of Hans-Petter and Synne, who chose Bali for their honeymoon.

This isn’t a guide. It’s the story of one honeymoon: what Hans-Petter and Synne wanted, how we put the trip together, and what they experienced over twelve days in Bali in 2026.

What they wanted

When Hans-Petter and Synne got in touch, they had one clear message: their honeymoon shouldn’t feel like an ordinary package tour. They wanted something real and personal, something they could look back on and say “that was exactly us”.

It’s a wish we hear often, and it isn’t really about luxury. It’s about a trip built around the people travelling, not around what’s easiest to sell.

The trip: twelve days, three places

We put together a twelve-day trip through Uluwatu, Ubud and Nusa Lembongan, tailored down to the details.

Uluwatu. The trip started in the south of the island, at a 5-star hotel in Uluwatu. Here the cliffs drop straight into the Indian Ocean, and the evenings are all about the sunset.

Ubud and Mount Batur. From the coast they headed inland, to the jungle and rice fields around Ubud. From there they climbed the Mount Batur volcano in the dark to watch the sunrise from the top. The photo above was taken up there.

Nusa Lembongan. The last days were on the small neighbouring island of Nusa Lembongan, with a sunset cruise and snorkelling from a catamaran. A quiet finish before the long trip home.

What Synne says

“We felt very well looked after and can warmly recommend ReadySetIsland.”
– Synne, 2026 (translated from Norwegian)

You’ll find more photos from their trip in our Instagram post about their honeymoon.

What did the trip cost?

A trip like Hans-Petter and Synne’s – twelve days, a 5-star hotel, three areas and experiences like sunrise on Batur and a catamaran at Lembongan – typically costs around $9,000–10,000 for two including flights from Europe – less if you fly in from Australia or Asia.

If you want to spend less, the hotel level and the length matter most. Our honeymoon starts at $2,999 per person, and on our honeymoon page you can see what each level costs.

How we planned the trip

We started with a conversation about what they wanted, not with a ready-made package. From there we laid out a route with three areas that fit together, with enough nights in each place to take things slowly.

We took care of the hotels, the driver between areas, the boat to Nusa Lembongan and the excursions. They had one personal contact from the first proposal until they were home again, including while they were in Bali.

Their route is similar to the honeymoon we put together for most couples, but no two trips are quite the same. We tailor the length, the hotels and the island at the end every time.
