With children, a good holiday is about the small things: a hotel with a shallow pool, short drives, outings early in the day and afternoons with nothing planned. We lived in Bali for four years and know which places work for families, and which only look good in photos.

What it can look like

Three places, short distances

The family package is 11 days with 10 nights in three areas. We start slowly on the beach, take the kids into the jungle and finish close to the airport, so the journey home is easy.

A calm, family-friendly beach in Sanur, Bali
Days 1–4 · Sanur or Nusa Dua

Beach and pool

Calm beaches without big waves and family-friendly hotels with pools. The first days let everyone recover from the flight. Swim before eleven and after three, when the sun is gentler.

Children meeting the animals at Bali Zoo
Days 5–7 · Ubud

Animals and jungle

Green and a little cooler. Bali Zoo and a bike tour through the villages are included, and Sangeh Monkey Forest can be added. There the kids can feed the monkeys.

A family in the pool at a beach hotel in South Bali
Days 8–10 · South Bali

Calm before flying home

Beach and pool close to the airport, with the option of a day trip to waterfalls and temples. The last days are relaxed, and it’s a short drive to your flight.

Drive times: airport to Sanur or Nusa Dua about 30 minutes, Sanur to Ubud about an hour. Advice on ages, health, food, sun and hotels is in our guide to Bali with kids.

The family package

What’s included

10 nights in three areas. The package is a starting point. We change hotels, add nights, a villa with its own pool or a trip to Lovina to suit you.

3–4★ family hotels

Hotels with pools and family rooms, chosen because they work for children. Breakfast is included everywhere.

Private driver on excursions

No shared buses and no waiting around. The kids can nap in the car, and you stop whenever you need to.

Bali Zoo and a bike tour

Two experiences the kids will remember, included in the price. More activities can be added by age.

A flexible pace

One outing a day and time for the pool and the beach. We plan the days around your children’s rhythm, not a fixed schedule.

One personal contact

One person looks after you from the first proposal until you’re home again, including while you’re in Bali.

Travel guarantee

The package is covered by the Norwegian Travel Guarantee Fund and the Package Travel Act. How you’re protected.

Hotels and villas

No fixed hotel list, chosen for you

We don’t sell one package with the same hotels for everyone. We listen to what your family needs and choose hotels and villas around that.

Around your kids’ needs

A shallow pool, a kids’ club, a family room or a villa with its own pool. We choose by your children’s ages and what you enjoy.

Named hotels in your proposal

Your proposal includes hotel names, photos and prices for every stop before you decide.

Places we know

We lived in Bali for four years and only recommend places we trust ourselves.

Price

How much does a Bali family holiday cost?

The family package starts at $1,999 per person. Children get a child price, and where it ends up depends mostly on the hotel level, the room setup and your children’s ages.

LevelAccommodationPer person, no flightsSuits
Family3–4★ family hotel with a pool$1,999–2,500Most families
VillaA private villa with its own pool$2,500–3,500Families who want their own space and a quiet pool

Children get a child price. How much depends on their ages and the room setup you choose, for example whether the kids share your room, have their own or you stay in a villa. The exact price is in your proposal. Flights come on top and depend on where you fly from: from Australia and Southeast Asia a return ticket is often $300–600 per person, from the Middle East, Europe or North America usually $700–1,600. Our family package starts at $1,999 per person without flights. With a private villa the typical level is $2,500–3,500 per person. Children get a child price depending on age and room setup. Flights depend on where you fly from: often $300–600 return from Australia and Southeast Asia, and $700–1,600 from the Middle East, Europe or North America.

Yes. Bali is one of the most child-friendly destinations in Asia, and the Balinese adore children. The main things to watch are sun, water and traffic: use SPF 50, drink bottled water and travel with a driver rather than a scooter. See Bali with kids.

Bali works for all ages. Many parents find 3–12 ideal, as kids are old enough to remember and young enough to find everything magical. With babies and toddlers we recommend fewer hotel changes and a villa with its own pool.

The dry season from May to October. School holidays bring higher prices and more visitors, especially July–August, the Australian school holidays and Christmas. If you can, May, June and September give great weather at lower prices. See the best time to travel to Bali.

It depends on where you live. From Australia there are direct flights of around 3.5–7 hours, and there are direct flights from many cities in Asia and the Middle East. From Europe and North America you fly with one or two stops, and many families add a night or two on the way to break up the journey.

Yes. Many resorts in Nusa Dua, Sanur and Jimbaran have kids clubs, often for children from around age 4. If a kids club matters to you, we choose the hotel around it.

Yes, many families do. We recommend fewer hotel changes, short drives and ideally a villa with its own pool. Nappies, formula and baby food are available in supermarkets in the tourist areas.

Most children find something they like: rice, noodles, chicken, pancakes and lots of fruit. The tourist areas also have pizza and pasta. Drink bottled water and take it easy the first few days.

With a private driver. It’s safer and easier than taxis or scooters, and you stop whenever the kids need to. Let us know if you need a child seat, and we’ll sort it out before you travel.

Talk to your doctor 6–8 weeks before you travel. Common recommendations are hepatitis A and sometimes typhoid. Use mosquito repellent, especially in the morning and evening.

Yes. ReadySetIsland AS is a licensed travel agency and a member of the Norwegian Travel Guarantee Fund, and the family package follows the Package Travel Act.

Yes. You can cancel free of charge within 24 hours of booking. After that, and until 66 days before departure, you pay the deposit plus a $200 fee per person. 65–36 days before departure the fee is 50% of the price, and 35 days or less before departure there is no refund, except for public charges. Everything is in our terms for package holidays, and we recommend cancellation insurance.
