Which day trip suits you?
With a week in Bali, two or three day trips is usually plenty. The rest of the time is for slowing down.
Start with Ubud. Rice terraces, temples, monkeys and a waterfall in one day, and a real feel for Balinese culture.
Nusa Penida is the highlight of the whole trip for many. It’s a long day, but the view over Kelingking is worth it.
Mount Batur starts in the middle of the night, but sunrise over the volcano stays with you. You’re back before lunch.
Bali Zoo suits all ages and is a short day. Kids who are confident in the water often love snorkelling most.
Uluwatu gives you Bali’s best beaches and ends with the kecak dance at sunset by the clifftop temple.

Yes. Bali Zoo, Ubud and Uluwatu suit all ages. Nusa Penida is a long day with a lot of driving, and Mount Batur means hiking in the dark. Tell us your kids’ ages and we’ll advise.
Day trips run all year. From April to October the sea is calmest for Nusa Penida and snorkelling, and the Mount Batur sunrise is most often clear. See the best time to visit Bali.
Sunscreen, water, swimwear and shoes with good grip. Temples need shoulders and knees covered, though sarongs are usually provided. It’s cold at the top of Mount Batur, so bring a jacket.
