There are no direct flights to Bali from Norway
Let's state it upfront: there are no direct routes between Norwegian airports and Bali (Denpasar/DPS). You will always have at least one stop, usually in Asia or the Middle East. This means a total travel time of 18–22 hours depending on the airline and route.
The positive side? The stop isn't necessarily a problem — it can actually be an experience in itself. More on that further down.
Which airlines fly to Bali from Norway?
Thai Airways via Bangkok is our personal favorite — and what we recommend to most people. The route goes from Oslo via Bangkok (BKK/Suvarnabhumi) to Denpasar. Travel time is approximately 19–20 hours. Thai Airways has good service on board, and Bangkok is a fantastic layover destination if you want to include a stop along the way. Considering the unrest in the Middle East, this route is also the safest and most stable of the alternatives.

KLM via Amsterdam and Singapore is another safe and stable choice we gladly recommend. You fly from Oslo to Amsterdam with KLM or SAS, and from there via Singapore to Bali with KLM. This route does not pass through the Middle East, offering good predictability. KLM maintains a solid standard, Amsterdam is a familiar transit airport for Norwegians — and Singapore Changi is one of the world's best airports for the second stop.
Emirates via Dubai is usually an excellent option — good service, modern aircraft, and Dubai is one of the world's best transit airports. In normal times, this is the route we often recommend for luxury and comfort. In 2027, however, we will closely monitor the situation in the Middle East before recommending this route — but if things calm down, Emirates is definitely worth considering.
Qatar Airways via Doha is another high-standard Middle Eastern alternative. The same assessment as for Emirates applies here — follow the news and book with a cancellation guarantee if you choose this route in 2027.
Singapore Airlines via Singapore is a premium alternative via Asia — high standard and Changi Airport is one of the world's best. Priced somewhat higher than the others, but worth it for long journeys.
Turkish Airlines via Istanbul offers competitive prices and frequent departures. Istanbul Airport is modern and large. A solid option if prices are favorable.
Vegard's advice for 2027: Given the current situation in the Middle East, I would personally choose Thai Airways via Bangkok or KLM via Amsterdam. Both are stable routes without geopolitical risk — and Bangkok is a fantastic place to include an extra stop if you have time.

When should you book flights to Bali 2027?
As a rule of thumb: the earlier, the better — especially for travel during peak season (July–August) and around Christmas and New Year. The cheapest seats are the first to go.
Best price: Book 6–9 months in advance for peak season. For shoulder season (April–June and September–October), 3–6 months is sufficient.
Cheapest months to fly: November and January are historically the cheapest from Norway — but this is also Bali's rainy season. If you want dry weather, book April–October and expect higher flight prices.
Best days to fly: Tuesday and Wednesday are often cheaper than weekend days. Avoid Friday and Sunday.
Tip: Set up price alerts on Google Flights or Momondo for the Oslo–Denpasar route. You'll get notified when the price drops and can book at the right moment.
Turn your stop into an experience — Bangkok stopover
If you travel with Thai Airways via Bangkok, you have the option to add one or two extra nights in Bangkok — either on your way to Bali or on your way home. It costs almost nothing extra and turns the long journey into an experience instead of a chore.

Bangkok is one of Southeast Asia's best cities — street food in Yaowarat, temples, rooftop bars, and shopping in Chatuchak. Two nights in Bangkok combined with Bali is a combination we highly recommend, whether you place the stop at the beginning or end of your trip.
Airport in Bali
You will land at Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar (DPS) — Bali's only international airport. It is centrally located in the south, about 30 minutes from Seminyak and Canggu, 45 minutes from Uluwatu, and 1.5 hours from Ubud.

Upon arrival: if you have applied for an EVOA in advance, you can use the automatic gates and avoid the long queue at immigration. Do this at home before departure — it takes five minutes and saves you 30–60 minutes in line.
