When is the best time to travel to Bali? Complete guide 2026
Share
When is actually the best time to travel to Bali? This is one of the most common questions we get from Norwegians planning their Bali trip. The answer depends on what you're looking for – good weather, low prices, few tourists, or special experiences. In this guide, we'll go through what you can expect month by month, so you can choose the time that suits you best.
🌦️ Bali's Two Seasons
Bali practically has two seasons – the dry season and the rainy season. Neither is "bad" for travel, but they offer very different experiences.

☀️ The Dry Season — April to October
This is high season in Bali. Little rain, sun, and perfect beach conditions. Ideal for beach life, the Nusa Penida day trip, and snorkeling. July and August are peak season with higher prices and more tourists — but also guaranteed good weather.
🌧️ The Rainy Season — November to March
Rain usually comes in short, intense downpours — not entire days of grey weather. Bali is more lush and green, prices are lower, and there are fewer tourists. Many Norwegians actually prefer the rainy season for a more authentic experience.

🎉 Special Events and Festivals
Bali has a rich cultural life with festivals and ceremonies throughout the year. Some are worth planning your trip around:
Nyepi — Bali's Day of Silence (March)
Nyepi is Bali's Hindu New Year — a day when the entire island shuts down. No cars, no lights, no noise. The airport is closed and everyone must stay indoors. A truly unique and fascinating experience — but plan your trip around it if you want to avoid being stuck at the hotel.
Galungan and Kuningan (Varies)
One of Bali's most important religious celebrations. Streets and temples are adorned with bamboo decorations called penjor. Fantastic to experience — the island is at its most beautiful and authentic.
Bali Arts Festival (June–July)
A month-long festival in Denpasar with dance, music, art, and crafts. Perfectly combined with a cultural tour in Ubud.
🌴 Want to experience Bali's culture up close?
A guided cultural tour in Ubud takes you to temples, rice fields, and local artists — with Norwegian service and local knowledge.

For Couples and Honeymoons
April–June or September is ideal. Good weather, not too many tourists, and good prices. Our luxury package is especially popular during these months.
For Families with Children
July–August is natural due to school holidays — but book at least 3–4 months in advance as prices increase. See our family package for inspiration.
For Adventurers and Nature Lovers
April–June is perfect for Mount Batur, Nusa Penida, and active day trips. Little rain and perfect temperatures for hiking.
For Those on a Budget
November–March offers the lowest prices on flights and accommodation. The rain is short-lived, and Bali is greener and more lush than ever.
For Retreats and Wellness
The rainy season (November–March) is actually perfect for retreats and yoga — a calmer pace, lower prices, and a more meditative atmosphere.
💡 Our Advice
Most Norwegians travel to Bali in July–August because it coincides with Norwegian holidays. That's perfectly fine — but if you're flexible with dates, April–June and September are absolutely the best months. You'll get equally good weather, fewer tourists, and lower prices.
No matter when you travel: plan the most important experiences in advance — especially Nusa Penida, Mount Batur, and snorkeling. They are best with an early start and pre-booking.
